Your commission

You send me a photo and a few words about why it matters. Nothing is binding until we agree the photo, the size (A5 148 × 210 mm or A4 210 × 297 mm) and the price, and I always confirm the price with you first.

Each painting is watercolour and ink on 300 g cotton paper, unframed and signed by hand. It is painted from your photo in my own style, so it is one of a kind rather than an exact copy, and colours can look different on your screen. Please only send photos you have the right to use. If a photo will not work well, I will tell you honestly and help you choose another.

Paying

Half of the price is paid up front once we agree, and the other half when your painting is finished, before I send it. I send you the payment details, and I start painting when I receive the deposit.

Delivery

Your painting is ready in about 5 working days, packed flat between rigid boards and sent tracked. Shipping is extra:

• Within the Netherlands: €5, a day or two.
• Europe and the United Kingdom: €10, about a week.
• Rest of the world: €15, up to four weeks depending on the location.
• Pick-up in 's-Hertogenbosch: free.

Import duties are for you to pay. If anything arrives damaged, or does not arrive, tell me right away with photos of the packaging and the painting, and we will sort it out together.

Ten days to change your mind

You have 10 days after receiving your painting to change your mind. Tell me within those 10 days, and send it back within 14 days of telling me, unharmed and well packed. You pay the return postage, and I suggest a tracked service. Once I have it, I refund the price of the painting within 14 days. If poor packing damaged it on the way back, I may deduct that.

This is my own promise. Because each painting is made to order from your photo, the legal right of withdrawal for online purchases does not apply, so I am offering more than the law asks. Your other legal rights stay yours, for example if a painting is faulty or is not what we agreed.

Cancelling

Before I start painting, you can cancel and I refund your deposit in full. Once I have started, I keep the deposit, because the work is done, and you are welcome to ask me at any time whether I have started. If I am the one who cannot finish your painting, you get back everything you paid.

Your painting and my work

You own the painting, and you are welcome to photograph it and share it. I would love a tag @atelierdanique. I keep the copyright of the image, so prints or commercial use need my written permission. I never show your photo, your story or the finished painting without asking you first. If you agree and later change your mind, I will take it down.

The small print

I take great care of every painting and every parcel. As far as the law allows, I am liable for no more than the amount you paid, and nothing here limits your rights as a consumer. I may change my prices or these terms, but never for a commission we have already agreed. The texts, photos and paintings on this website are mine, so please ask before using them.

Dutch law applies, and disputes go to the court of Oost-Brabant in 's-Hertogenbosch, but as a consumer you keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live. If something is not right, please message me first: most things are easy to sort out. My privacy policy explains how I handle your information.
